Kèr Stèvàzig (Stèvà /zig/ [prejudice; bias] [rod; shaft; bar; pole; axle]) is a subtropical Small Town located in Aelwheat Dutchy, Krièvlùji̊ La Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Kèr Stèvàzig is derived from the Tauric language, as Kèr Stèvàzig was founded by Woghemoth Edward, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Kèr Stèvàzig has a yearly average temperature of 30°C (86°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 33°C (91°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a warm 27°C (80°F). Kèr Stèvàzig receives an average of 250 cm/y (98 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Kèr Stèvàzig covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 1526 m (5006 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Kèr Stèvàzig was founded durring the late 15th century in spring of the year 1368, by Woghemoth Edward. The establishment of Kèr Stèvàzig suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Kèr Stèvàzig was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the late 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Kèr Stèvàzig is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Kèr Stèvàzig is buildings have been located at convienant points along the mountain Kèr Stèvàzig was built upon. Navigating the town is therefore a little chalanging as the distance between buildings verris greatly and the spacious paverstone streets flow where they are able to be made rather than folowing the most convienant paths. The town posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Kèr Stèvàzig weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. The town's budget focused millitary grade defenses are visibly old, but also obviously well maintained. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with routine mantance of the town's defences.

A look around Kèr Stèvàzig gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring jsut long enough for it to be uncomfortable. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a town, and more like a spot people just happened to place their homes.

Kèr Stèvàzig has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Kèr Stèvàzig has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Kèr Stèvàzig's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Kèr Stèvàzig possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Kèr Stèvàzig has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Kèr Stèvàzig has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Kèr Stèvàzig's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by order, symmetry, formal design, grandiosity, and elaborate ornamentation. Architectural characteristics include balustrades, balconies, columns, cornices, pilasters, and triangular pediments. Stone exteriors are massive and grandiose in their symmetry; interiors are typically polished and lavishly decorated with sculptures, swags, medallions, flowers, and shields. Interiors will often have a grand stairway and opulent ballroom..

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Kèr Stèvàzig was attacked by soldiers from another nation, with orders to raid Kèr Stèvàzig. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Kèr Stèvàzig lost 150 people, 114 livestock, and 50 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 63, when members of Kèr Stèvàzig's militia enacted an operation to fortify a particular depot. The operation was complicated by at least some of the intelligence related to the operation was incorrect. The conflict ended with the defense of the depot against a siege, which ended in victory for Kèr Stèvàzig's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Kèr Stèvàzig's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
